The Government of UK has been providing bilateral development assistance to India since 1958. At present UK is the largest bilateral development partner in terms of grants. The aid agency of UK is the Department of International Development (DFID), which is a part of Foreign and Commonwealth Office. UK provides bilateral development assistance in the form of Financial Contribution (FC) (routed through budget) and Technical Contribution (TC) which includes direct payment by DFID for consultancy services, experts, training etc. The bilateral development assistance of UK is provided in the form of grants. The priority areas of UK bilateral development assistance are; Health & Family Welfare, Rural Development, Education, Energy Reforms, Environment, Slum Development, Economic Reform Programmes, Public Sector Reforms.
